I suspect that the ability of cats to stare like this is what caused so many to fear them in the superstitious past...

Cats got nice eyes. The ones I've photographed here in Cairo, have very strange irises.
I wonder if that's the result of too many untreated eye infections or just the result of breeding.
I'm not a cat person, but I do have a family that hangs out in my yard, porch, etc. I actually have a post on them, but cancelled that this week due to Doggie's demise (may she rest in peace.) I also have a cat journal on flickr where you can see the eyes - not super close up, but it does appear to be a Cairene Cat thing, so far.
