My dear friend Tamara has just consented by text message to a night out of Japanese delicious-ness, and also suggested "Yalumba" at the Meridien...something about champagne and seafood. My two favourite food groups.

lol-well, the UAE isn't exactly what I call a country of culture vultures, in the traditional sense of the word 'culture'. Art museums, natural history museusms, and other galleries and exhibits we might see in a large city in N.America just aren't present. Life can get a bit dull if you prefer those things. However, if you enjoy a great meal and a night on the town, Dubai has some fabulous chefs representing a variety of cuisines. Don't get me wrong: Dubai has lovely beaches, hotels, desert excursions, restaurants, etc. but there just aren't independent and foreign movie houses or cultural exhibits passing through (we've got the "The Body" exhibit here in Seattle at the moment), so sometimes you're hear expats complain of such things missing. Can't have it all!
