We car camped at the the White River Campground. For those of your not familiar, car camping means we aren't hiking into the back country. We choose from the established campsites, which include, in this case, a picnic table, fire pit, place for the car, and room for a tent. This site a shared bathroom with running water (cold) and also provided drinking water via a well. There is no electricity, and firewood can be purchased daily. Though there is a lot of snow, it's really quite warm during the day up there. At 6400 feet, it was probably around 65F in the sun. Temperatures are on the rise, as this part of Mt. Rainier National Park only just reopened for the season. I got a bit of a sunburn off the glare of the snow fields.

I have never heard the term 'car camping.' To me that would mean that you camped 'in' your car rather than in a tent. Perhaps it is just a Washington state term?

It might be a west coast term, or perhaps an outdoor enthusiast term. I think car camping refers to using designated campgrounds you can drive into vs. hiking into.
I would love to go camping but dont know if I have the energy for it anymore. I am reminded of a remark Joan Rivers made once..."My idea of roughing it is having to call TWICE for room service!" Yep--that pretty much describes me now--hahaha.
It does take a lot of planning and energy, Eva. I forgot stupid things like a hair brush and a towel. Since it was only two days, it wasn't that bad. I think I do well in short spurts.
