"Where's the video for men?" I ask. No speedos, guys-for multiple reasons. Safa, get out and get one of these so you can enjoy swimming at the beach w/ the girls this summer!

I think it is great that they are doing dedicated beach fashion, as it is an improvement over swimming in your daily wear. At least you could actually swim in this rather than just wade around and get wet.
But... I have to admit that I would not find it pleasant to even be wet with this lesser amount of clothing.
Agreed, VS. Firstly, it's so dangerous to swim in your galabeya, abaya, or any other clothes not intended for the activity. But also because no women should feel she's missing out on the fun of frolicking in the water! 'taint nothing like it!
Really, VS? A phobia or just no water in N. Dakota growing up?
Vagabond...how's life back in the states for the time being? I wondered about that shorter version...it does have the potential to hide a multitude of sins!
Well, I just got back from the local YMCA where I went swimming with my kids.
I go in with my parachute pants (nylon with netting underneath-like Addidas track pants) and a long sleeve danskin shirt (for exercise, they breathe and don't stick on you or show sweat, etc. They are both fashionable, dark blue, and cover me and don't stick to me.
Basically pick pants that are nylong with netting underneath (so they don't stick on you and weigh you down, and the new breathable exercise material for your shirts).
I pick any hijab really. But the amirahs are the best for the water.
I also do this to go to the beach or to the pool when I am on vacation with my kids.
Although I think it is great that they are designing swimwear for Muslimas because it makes people used to seeing us with clothes in the water, I prefer to "design" my own by picking appropriate exercise wear to use in the water. I actually think many of the "fashion swimwear" that have been designed are quite ugly. I don't think grown women look cute with tons of pink flowers pasted all over them. LOL. just my opinion.
And although I wear a jilbab almost all the time, I wouldn't go in the water with one. It would only float up r stick to your body, neither of which sounds very modest to me, or safe for that matter.
Very few guys actually go to the YMCA during the day when they are so many kids there, BTW.
Thanks for sharing, Musulmana. I think you're right about the floral prints! I would feel a bit silly covered entirely in that...a bit of a flower patch!
Good idea Muslimana of those fabrics that won't stick to you. That was the detail that seemed so unpleasant to me.
As to my non-swimming, there were not many possibilities when I was growing up... it never appealed as I was sooooo blind without glasses that going without them didn't seem a fun time (where's the lake?). And I did learn in college that I have a type of claustrophobia concerning water of the face... I don't even like showers... prefer baths.

Do any of our commenters here swim in hijab?

Personally I never learned to swim... and haven't had a suit since I was in my early 30's... and let's not talk about how long ago that was. :-)

I guess that last photo was the "bikini" version (short sleeves and long shorts and no hijab)?

I am just too weird...

I ordered one of these and a burqini from Ahiida. I hated this model but LOVE my burqini! In fact, will be taking it to Mexico with me ;-)
