Maryanne Stroud Gabbani: I've got her in my sidebar, and I've commented on her blog before. This woman's archives will have you reading for hours on end. Her latest blog talks about her grown daughter's visit to the Egypt, and how they stumble upon some archeological discards in the desert, finding an infant mummy wrapped in linen! Please go check her blog out!

This woman's name is familiar, but I can't place her. We are the same age and were in Cairo at the same time. Do you know her personally CG?

I don't know her personally, VS, but it's strange that you say she's familiar. Because you and I have not met face to face, I have contemplated that you might resemble this woman! No don't go seeking a court order! ;-)
She used to live in Maadi, I believe. If you've ever read her blog, you'll find the story of her husband who died tragically in a plane crash. I think she's moved out to Abu Sir and runs stables...a unique tourist experience that I would like to try next time I'm in Cairo. I think she's been there for some 20-odd years. Maybe you crossed paths?
A good friend of mine used to spend a lot of time at the stables near the pyramids because she was dating one of the members of one of the owners. I always figured that she was mostly interested in have free access to the Arab horses they raised. Perhaps she mentioned this woman to me?
Unfortunately, even though we spoke for 2 hours on the phone today from Kuwait (a free Skype call), I forgot all about this woman.
I must go and read her blog... I'll let you know if I run into something that jogs my memory...
