So a sister blogger of mine has recently gone 'private'. On the one hand, it's nice because we get to see photos of her, her husband, and perhaps get a more personal glimpse into her life. The reason she went private kinda sucks. She wasn't "dooced" but I suppose her husband could have been, and not for any real reason. She 's an American Muslim married to an Egyptian. She's lived in Egypt, but is currently here in the US while hubby stays behind and works. They have a young son, and much of her blog has been reporting on his growth and development, their success/failures with the Department of Homeland Security, and so on. Her posts have always reflected a great love of Egypt, posting photos, sharing stories, etc. Recently, she wrote a post about the Egyptian blogger who was jailed for insulting Al Azhar and Hosni Mubarak-two equally punishable crimes, it appears. Anyway, she made some critical points about the lack of freedom of speech in Egypt, and how much she appreciated the ability to (more or less) speak her mind and criticise the American government and its leadership, never mind the freedom to criticise one's own religion.
Nothing perceiveably inappropriate was ever shared about her personal relationship w/ her spouse. In the true fashion of shit-stirring, one of her husband's colleagues didn't seem to like her opinions very much as they pertained to Egypt's lack of personal freedoms, and after reading her blog in one extended sitting (yes, we can see where you are, often your IP address, and how long you spend online, O'Anonymous reader/contributor) he proceeded to cause problems for her husband at work. After all, it is his business what his colleague's wife publicly states. It's also his business to help his brother 'keep the madame in check'.
So anonymous from Alexandria, I do hope you're reading this blog today. You're an ass. Get a life. Go worry about your personal short-comings, and stop meddling in the lives of others.

Thanks for clarifying why she went private. I was so angry. And now I get the picture.
People think it's their personal "jihad" to find such people because the poor Azhar was insulted.
Who gives a damn.
I'm sure she'd LOVE to have you in there, OM. Will I tell her to invite you?
It's the people who are so busy w/ the business of others that really need to focus on their own lives.
Jackassery is an international trait. Sigh.
Always the same story: one asshole ruins it for everyone else.
Ya, she sent me both invites! yay
I was just over at her new blog and was soooooo happy to read you blogged about this twit too. I feel so bad about what that ass did to her. But I am absolutely thrilled he didnt stop her. Score one for the intelligent ladies who just go private!
I know, Ev. I'm just mad that other people feel it necessary to make this their business. It's harmless, but it's how some people 'get a leg up'. Idiots. Hope he reads this.
I don't get if she posts now or not?
I can't reach her blog, too. But now it shows crazy empty blog & nothing more.
Terrible, terrible, terrible!
I hope everything can be ok with her & her family.
& I hope much more that her relationships with her husband will not suffer through this.
Yes, people, stupid persons are everywhere! :(
OK - Finally I understand why she went private. As my grandfather used to say "There are more horses asses in this world than there are horses." Isn't one of the reasons to have a blog is to speak your mind?! Ana mish fahma. Go Cairogal, go! Your sister.
OMG! That is so sad. Why can't people mind their own business? I'm so sorry for your friend and her hubby.
