I lived in Sharjah in 1998-99, and it was my first experience living and working abroad. There was no mall to speak of. The Spinneys Grocery store sold some British goods that were unfamiliar to me at that time, and my Canadian flatmate's conversion to Canadian dollars (as opposed to USD) had my head spinning. I thought everything was really expensive, when it was quite average. We had a McDonald's, KFC, and a Pizza Hut, and I hate all three. The movie theatres there chopped foreign films to bits (Sharjah is more conservative that Dubai), and there was no Starbucks. Well...let's just say it's changed a hell of a lot in just under 10 years. I took these from my friend Diaa's flat.

Thanks, OM! Can't wait to catch up! I only ever see you "mobile" when you're online, and don't want to bug you!
If it's mobile, that means I am offline, but if there is nothing, that probably means I am online, but invisible :)
and I am not sure when ur hub is on the pc :)
Aha! Ok, I'll try you when you look offline. Hubby is rarely on my PC. He had some internet explorer issues, but all is repaired!
